About the event
Through a series of dance improvisation tasks, we will investigate how we send, tune into, and receive signals—often while already in motion—and how these processes shape the choices we make in real time.
Within a group improvisation, there are many elements to attend to: the self, the body in movement, dance partners, music, others, space, phrasing, and the unfolding composition. Inspired by frequency, wave patterns, and the idea of the human body as a radio or oscillator, the workshop will look more closely at how we tune into these signals, receive them, and send out our own information. We will explore how the process of many people fine-tuning into one composition can result in noise, interference, or moments of attuned, co-created flow.
The workshop is intended for movers with an interest in group improvisation and performance. Prior experience in improvisation is helpful.
