Until now, you knew Turtle as a magazine with one or two releases per year—including calls for texts and release events. It was a wonderful time, but

also a lot of work for our small team. And to be honest, our own creativity often fell by the wayside. That's why we're changing our structure! From

now on, Turtle is a collective. This means that anyone who publishes with us becomes part of the collective, helps shape it, takes responsibility, and

creates more art together.

 

We are opening up the creative space to anyone who wants to join in. Performance, dance, music, sound, visual arts, or text—

we are multidisciplinary!

Co-Create & Publish

 

The current call is aimed at visual artists from all over Germany who want to increase their visibility and promote their early careers through joint interdisciplinary projects, including the annual publication of a magazine and an exhibition in Munich. We are open to all forms of visual artistic work, such as painting, drawing, printmaking, video, installations, photography, sculpture, and everything in between and beyond. We are looking for people who want to work collectively and contribute actively over a longer period of time.

We receive regular funding from the Munich Department of Culture and are therefore able to cover the costs of the magazine and events, such as the release event. We are working on being able to pay our artistic work appropriately, but are currently mainly doing the turtle on a voluntary basis.

 

 

For applications for the current theme, “haunted,” it is important to see your ideas—we do not need finished works; you have until around September for that. If you wish, you can also enter into a co-creation process with other collective members.

Creative Evenings & Community

 

Want to engage in creative exchange or simply get to know us? Then come to our creative evenings! Here you can try things out, share ideas, and connect with other creative people. You can always find out when and where they are taking place on our channels. At the creative evenings, we work on our projects as a collective or individually, but we also engage in creative exchange and are always happy to welcome external input and new and familiar faces :)
